Decibel Festival’s fourth day boasts some excellent house and techno DJs, from legends like Richie Hawtin to rising stars like Patrick Topping. Here’s two showcases I’ll be sure to hit tonight.

db2014 Showcase with Richie Hawtin / Guti / Rone  @ EMP Sky Church

Richie Hawtin is a techno legend who really needs no introduction. His ENTER. shows are legendary. The man defines the complete opposite of what mainstream EDM is. His minimal, dark beats will be accompanied by the Hawtin’s visual collaborator, Ali Demirel, in the beautiful Sky Church. Guti, who actually started out as a Jazz musician, now stands behind the decks as a techno master. Using his roots in Jazz, he adds elements of electronic and Latin music to make something truly unique. Rone will remind you of Orbital or the Chemical Brothers with his experimental techno and melodic ambient sounds. Guti and Rone will both be performing live, adding another layer to this spectacular show.

How Creations Showcase with Lee Foss feat. Anabel Englund / Shadow Child / Patrick Topping @ EMP Level 3

Born in the city that birthed house, Lee Foss (pictured above) bleeds house and techno. He also is an incredibly talented DJ, competing in the Chicago scene for years. Add in Anabel Englund, who met Foss after sneaking into one of his shows, and the result will be chilling vocal house cut ripe with a heavy low-end and bouncing basslines. Shadow Child has a special sound: a mix of house, heavy drum’n’bass and hardcore that you will feel deep in your body. Rising Tech House star Patrick Topping will be infusing the dance floor with heavy basslines and steel drums. His latest EP Boxed Off is climbing the charts and Seattle is in for a treat. Come see him before he reaches the top.
