They are flimsy, scratch easily and are old, but these vinyl record albums continue to be desired items by music enthusiasts. Some collectors enjoy vinyls because of their apparent better sound quality, but more importantly, because of the memories these records hold. Music enthusiasts do not care if vinyl records are outdated or easily scratched because they will continue to scour Internet stores and brick-and-mortar stores to find the right album. However, before you go out and peruse the net or the store for records, here are some tips to keep in mind.

Looking For Original Album Cover

A vinyl album without its original album cover is not a record—it's half a record album. Vinyl records often have higher resale values with their original album cover intact; however, some online stores do not always provide you with the original artwork. If you're an admirer of vinyl albums, you'll want to have the album in its original state. While most of the value is found in the vinyl itself, the album artwork exponentially increases the value of an item.

When looking for an album and album cover, remember to look for a piece of album artwork that is in mint or perfect condition. Because the estimated value of a vinyl is controlled by its album cover and vinyl, if possible, you'll want to locate an album that is still sealed in its original state to get the most value, and if the album is rare, you can fetch a few thousand dollars.

When Shopping Online

When shopping online, you do not have the benefit to look over the record as you do at a brick-and-mortar store that lets you inspect the record and album cover. When shopping online, images and item descriptions are vital in buying the correct record. What you want to prevent are sites that provide vague reports of their products and provide blurry or no images of the product. A website should provide you with detailed information about the record, the artist and the condition of the album itself in order to help you find the best record online.

Do not forget, whenever possible, do not shop at online auction sites for your products. Auction web pages that have third-party users selling products, such as sealed Beatles vinyl, may not always have the most honest resellers. What often occurs is that the individual vendor who is selling the product may fabricate details about the album, describing false state of the record and album cover. One way to stop from selecting falsely advertised items is to purchase albums whose descriptions include several photos and provide detailed information about the condition of the item.

Brick-and-Mortar Shopping

Do not forget, while shopping at an actual store you have the opportunity of actually inspecting the item yourself in order to get your own conclusions about the product. Still, just because you can touch and inspect the item yourself does not automatically mean the album will be better. Please remember to inspect the album and its cover thoroughly before selecting it; otherwise, you might be paying more for a less valuable product.
