Here's a link to one of the tunes on Wilco's forthcoming "A Ghost Is Born" album. I think it sounds pretty damn good. Very Neil Young/Crazy Horse-ish and it sounds as though Tweedy stepped away from the board with all the twiddly knobs on it and played some rock music.

Album is available on any P2P network, if you're interested in hearing the whole album. I haven't been able to get into the album, outside of a couple of tracks.

I think that it's a good album, especially the first half. I like that there are fewer squeaks, skronks and other evidence of in-studio trickery. I'm a big fan of "Muzzle of Bees" and "I'm a Wheel" is less irritating than I remember from hearing it pre-release. I take that 12 minute Metal Machine Music "homage" as a personal insult, though.

I think if Jeff Tweedy stopped doing so many "handshake drugs" maybe the next disc would have more than an EP's worth of quality material.

I think they experiment a lot, and most of the time it fails, or at least falls quite short of what they wanted.  Spiders (Kidsmoke) is longer and dumber than it needs to be, for example.
