: Welcome to Hex County . . . : Nada Overlord September 18, 2003, 06:29:19 PM Hey Kids. Its your friendly Nada Overlord here to tell you about a great new Seattle band called Hex County. Met the guys very briefly last night at Nada's Alt-Country showcase and they handed me a great double EP. I'm on my third time through it now.
Check out their website at www.hexcounty.com and voice your opinions in this here forum. Never know, the boys may stop by here and say hello themselves. : Hex ain't no dry county : BoyNamedSue September 18, 2003, 06:44:10 PM I can tell you that. Hex and Mayor West have become good drinking buddies. Rumor has it that they might even hook up and play a double bill sometime soon. Could the masterminds at nadamucho be behind such a devious plot? I'll leave that for you to decide.

: Welcome to Hex County . . . : JeffCounty September 18, 2003, 09:00:40 PM Whoa. Wow. Thanks Matt, we couldn't be tickled pinker. Thank you also for the amazing rock show last night. The bands were brilliant, but where the hell did everyone go? How can you leave before I Can Lick Any Sonofabitch in the House? Blasphemers!
: Welcome to Hex County . . . : guycounty September 19, 2003, 08:57:13 AM And Jeff is considerably cheaper than most other bands...
No Old Crow needed for this man, he'll play for half a bottle of Cisco and a High Life tall-boy... : Welcome to Hex County . . . : guycounty September 19, 2003, 08:57:25 AM And Jeff is considerably cheaper than most other bands...
No Old Crow needed for this man, he'll play for half a bottle of Cisco and a High Life tall-boy... : Welcome to Hex County . . . : BoyNamedSue September 19, 2003, 11:35:44 AM Mmmm, High Life. Looking forward to a Mayor West/Hex tag team. If you guys need something to do tonight, we are playing another short set at the Mars Bar by REI. I'll even wear my High Life hat. I think we go on as early as 9. Probably going to break out a fair number of covers, but probably no Kenny Loggins. Love to see some nadamucho folks as well (if you are recovered from Wed). Also, well be at the Oktoberfest in Fremont at 4:30 on Sunday, right after the Clumsy Lovers!
Chess www.mayorwest.com : Welcome to Hex County . . . : Sonja September 19, 2003, 01:38:17 PM I for one will be delighted to attend the Fremont show...as I've discovered how much I love Mayor West and have been a long time fan of the Clumsy Lovers. Everyone should definitely come out for this show!
 : Welcome to Hex County . . . : Nada Overlord September 21, 2003, 03:28:41 PM There's a song at the end of the second EP that gives me the same feeling as Johnny Thunders' "Sad Vacation." Lofty praise, but these Hex County guys might have something. I'm not sure of all the lyrics, as mine skips due to the paint from the handpainted CDR front (very cool touch btw) having spilled over onto the playing side, but its something about "My Little Rich Girl." And man do I like it.
: re:skip : guycounty September 22, 2003, 08:51:30 AM Sorry about that Matt. Seems to be a reoccuring problem with many of the discs.. we'll wisk ya off a new one this week..
Hex boys : D-E-L to the R-I-D-G-E : chriscounty September 22, 2003, 05:29:24 PM Sorry, sorry. We'll be more careful with the paint in the future.
About those lyrics, if you're interested : the song is called "Delridge Girl" and refers to the infamous Delridge neighborhood of West Seattle where the Switch House is located, and where we get our practise on. If you dig on the lyrics up close you can catch references to various areas and landmarks around there, like the steel factory, Alki beach, Luna Park, Andover hill, etc etc yadda yadda. I have yet to actually serenade a real live Delridge Girl with this song, but my time is gonna come, I know it. - Chris : chris, your time has come... : September 24, 2003, 08:42:16 PM i saw a damn hot delridge girl today, just a few blocks away from here...
: oh and about the cd : September 24, 2003, 08:42:56 PM yeah sorry about that... in a rush to get a bunch of em done before tour, after the infamous hard drive crash with all the orininal audio files, we rapidly did whatever it took to reproduce media in a mass (yet still homemade) fashion, overlooking the skip factor... oops. glad ya like it though.
: Welcome to Hex County . . . : Nada Overlord September 27, 2003, 02:42:59 AM Unless they've changed their mind, you'll be able to catch the Hex County Kids live at Nada's 10/21 showcase at The Rendezvous.
: If'n you're interested . . : chriscounty October 08, 2003, 03:44:53 PM Just to spread the word, we've got kind of an unusual show coming up on Saturday afternoon. We'll be playing on Bainbridge Island at the Grange, a kind of youth center.
We are opening for a "hardcore bluegrass punk" band called the Can Kickers. They are touring all the way from Connecticut and Nate tells me they play on, like, washboards and things, and have scraggly beards. So if you're looking for something "slightly different" in your music diet this weekend, you could get in touch with us and we'll try to help you get there, maybe by stowing you away in the van under some blankets . . : Welcome to Hex County . . . : Nada Overlord October 09, 2003, 01:53:14 AM can't make it, unfortunately, but the Can Kickers sound cool as shit.
and thanks for whisking off the unpainted Deuce. not necessary, but i'm not gonna complain cause holy shit does "Delridge Girl" kick ass. wow. you guys are, like, good n' stuff. : Welcome to Hex County . . . : Sonja October 09, 2003, 08:00:42 PM Geez, you guys should make out.
 : Welcome to Hex County . . . : Nada Overlord October 10, 2003, 03:45:03 AM Silly Sonja. Making out with the soon-to-be rockstars is your job!

 : Welcome to Hex County . . . : chriscounty October 10, 2003, 02:48:25 PM Wait . . . I'm lost. Is somebody gonna make out with me or not?
: Welcome to Hex County . . . : guycounty October 10, 2003, 04:00:18 PM no...
no, they're not... : Welcome to Hex County . . . : sybil October 22, 2003, 02:46:42 PM Mucho thanks to the Hex County guys for kicking much ass last night at my pre-Birthday Bash. They put on a hell of a show, and we'll definitely have them on a bill at Chop Suey, Tractor or the Croc soon. There will be a bottle of Old Crow with your name on it tonight in the Green Room kids.
I'd also like to thank Chris, Corie and Steve from the Mayor West camp for helping me get so fucked up last night that I can't possibly freak out in anticipation of tonight, as I'm in too much pain. Bastids. : Nice work Hex : BoyNamedSue October 22, 2003, 03:10:04 PM They did rock the house, even more than I expected. Good times Ash, I reckon you didn't have to sit through a lab meeting at 9:30 this morning like yours truly. Those last couple Raniers left a dull pain constant reminder of the night before. See you to do it again tonight and congrats on making it through three decades.

Boys will be back in action 1/13 at the Tractor with Murderer's Accordion, Chuckanut Drive and I Can Lick Any SOB in the House.
