The cigarette ad on Nada is completely disgusting. Earning money off of cigarettes is even more disgusting. Shame on you.

Mucho thanks to the Hex County guys for kicking much ass last night at my pre-Birthday Bash. They put on a hell of a show, and we'll definitely have them on a bill at Chop Suey, Tractor or the Croc soon. There will be a bottle of Old Crow with your name on it tonight in the Green Room kids.
I'd also like to thank Chris, Corie and Steve from the Mayor West camp for helping me get so fucked up last night that I can't possibly freak out in anticipation of tonight, as I'm in too much pain. Bastids.

Hey Kids -
Engaged in a bit of sparring with my good pal Snizz earlier today that reminded me of why we started Nada way back in 1997 in the first place - to more openly argue about who knows more, has better taste and says more interesting things about music. Here's how it went. You can all clearly see that I, Nada Supreme Overlord Matt Ashworth, am totally smart and Snizz is my muse.
Matty says: hey buddy
The Snizz says: sup
Matty says: how is it?
The Snizz says: aight
Matty says: you able to get Oct 23rd off so you can come to the nada bday show?
The Snizz says: yes
Matty says: sweet
Matty says: you like the turn-ons disc i made you?
The Snizz says: I have listende to it a little bit. It seems ok. DOesn't instantly grab me
Matty says: i like how that first song sounds like a british strokes
Matty says: only its better than any song on that boring new strokes album The Snizz says: you're dumb Matty says: you like the strokes record a lot? Matty says: or just comfort food? Matty says: its just exactly like the first one only not as good Matty says: and totally boring The Snizz says: it's fuckking great. Matty says: they will never make another album Matty says: you heard it here first The Snizz says: I don't think it sounds that much like Is This IT either Matty says: polyphonic does bore me though Matty says: it sounds exactly like it Matty says: like the outtakes The Snizz says: dumbs Matty says: they are a live band Matty says: when you play it for people have you noticed how everyone who hears it says "it sounds exactly like the last one?" Matty says: on account of it sounding just like it only boringer Matty says: i'm giving it a 6/10 The Snizz says: If thats boring then the Turn Ons should make you want to blow your head off Matty says: writing a review Matty says: except they have a way more interesting sound Matty says: and songs 1 and 4 are better than any song ever made by the strokes The Snizz says: sometimes you are the dumbest person I know Matty says: its true Matty says: listen to them Matty says: you can't deny they sound like a british strokes only more interesting The Snizz says: I can I have and I will Matty says: you just haven't listened to it Matty says: this will be one of those times where after you buy their new full-length at the show The Snizz says: whatever Matty says: or you will hold out until they are huge Matty says: strokes unfortunately are destined to be a one album band like sex pistols The Snizz says: don't tell me what I know. I lsitened to it and it was ok. Matty says: they are completely irrelevant now Matty says: k The Snizz says: here we go again Matty says: you are certainly right about speakerboxxx though Matty says: its a 9/10 Matty says: or higher Matty says: love below 7/10 The Snizz says: love below 5/10 Matty says: no Matty says: you like the kings of leon record at all? The Snizz says: only heard three songs Matty says: the ep? The Snizz says: I dunno. I downloaded em Matty says: ah Matty says: i see the potential and they have some good songs Matty says: but its not that great either The Snizz says: I could see that. But haven't heard it The Snizz says: I got new Jet. The Snizz says: I lik eit Matty says: nice Matty says: we got it too but i haven't listened to it Matty says: love the songs on the ep you burned The Snizz says: They are a rock band Matty says: BMRC same as last time - like about 2-3 songs Matty says: yeah Matty says: a very good rock band Matty says: got the hiss yesterday and some other albums on their label The Snizz says: cool Matty says: saw turbo negro last night Matty says: one of the best shows of the year Matty says: you would love them Matty says: scandanavian leather is name of new album Matty says: like motorhead/supersucksers/acdc/motley crue vein The Snizz says: maybe. Thats how Datsuns were portrayed and they were ok I guess Matty says: six of them Matty says: very good shomen Matty says: crazy Matty says: have songs like "excuse me just a minute, while i fuck the world The Snizz says: overhyped The Snizz says: the datsuns that is The Snizz says: P.S. how can say those comments about The Strokes. If you actuall beleive that then I would think the same could be said for the White Stripes. Matty says: datsuns suck i think The Snizz says: Why does a band have to reinvent itself. Matty says: i wanted to like them Matty says: they don't Matty says: but they shouldn't put out a replica that is a downgrade in quality Matty says: suckers put out the same album over and over, but it pretty much got better every time Matty says: this is just fucking boring The Snizz says: I just don't see it. We'll have to agree to disagree. Matty says: not the first time Matty says: i got joe on guest list for placebo Matty says: per his request The Snizz says: If you were being truthful though you would say the same thing about Elephant The Snizz says: he got me a ticket for my birthday Matty says: elephant? Matty says: white stripes? The Snizz says: y Matty says: its their most consistenly great album Matty says: that sonically is more polished, better songs and better arrangements Matty says: more diverse than the others The Snizz says: but it sounds basically like the last one Matty says: that's the dumbest comparison ever Matty says: they have gotten better every single album Matty says: yeah Matty says: but better than it Matty says: unlike the strokes The Snizz says: dumb dumb dumb Matty says: its like listening to those last few Oasis albums Matty says: sure, its oasis Matty says: but why would you listen to it when you've got the first three? The Snizz says: I can't deal with you Matty says: whereas you look at all the white stripes albums Matty says: and pick the one that's the best and represents them the best Matty says: and you pick elephant Matty says: their newest album Matty says: once you start putting out new albums that make people just wanna listen to the last one ] Matty says: its time to hang it up Matty says: and it came early for the strokes The Snizz says: you are so stupid Matty says: Is This It still a modern classic The Snizz says: time to hang it up. Matty says: it is The Snizz says: give me a fucking break Matty says: they are just a boy band anyway Matty says: must go buy cigarettes Matty says: back to argue music like the old days soon Matty says: did you come to grips about how shortsighted and narrowminded your musical tastes and views are while i was gone? The Snizz says: thats the kettle calling the pot black Matty says: no its not Matty says: you just listen to the same stuff over and over or bands that sound like bands you already like Matty says: you've lost your edge man The Snizz says: shut up indie boy Matty says: haha The Snizz says: I listen to what I like Matty says: i'm just teasing you Matty says: what are you listening to right now? The Snizz says: Nothing The Snizz says: Jet earlier The Snizz says: Have you heard of these chick rappers called Northern State The Snizz says: I heard a bit The Snizz says: critics love their asses. Not sure I agree though Matty says: i heard two songs Matty says: and did not like them Matty says: cause although they may be smart white chicks Matty says: and have witty social commentary Matty says: and strong political views Matty says: it didn't make my head bob or my ass shake The Snizz says: hip hop is in shambles The Snizz says: I ain't too sure about power pop right now either. The Snizz says: Maybe I am getting behind but it seems like there is no great rock anthems coming out at the moment. Those sing drunk songs. Matty says: yep Matty says: you are right Matty says: on both accounts Matty says: that's how turbo negro is Matty says: like alice cooper meets soccer anthems Matty says: it was the biggest crowd i ever saw at graceland Matty says: and everyone chanting and singing along to "I got erection" and "ooh, fuck yeah" with fists pumped The Snizz says: ha Matty says: very ding srunk in your beer type shit The Snizz says: I'll have to check it out Matty says: i think J's got a greatest hits Matty says: we'll burn you Matty says: you peep hal's new column? The Snizz says: yeah Matty says: good stuff

Snizz is right. "Ghettomusik" is far superior to "The Love Below." I never would've suspected that, but it turns out Dre needs LOTS of Big Boi to temper his neo-hippie bullshit vibe. They are both good albums, but Big Boi's is like a 9.5/10 to Dre's 7/10. Next time, do it together and its a definite 10/10, like the last three.
