So, Australian music. Some of it is okay. Some of it is rubbish. Most of it, however, is woefully underrepresented in the worldwide music scene.

Having grown up in the Antipodes, steeped in Australian and New Zealand music, I feel it is something of a duty to get the word out on the musical goings-on Down Under.

Here is a crash course in Things To Know about Aussie music – a perfect primer for when you next decide to play musical know-it-all and impress that chick (or bloke) from Sydney you know:

Thanks to everyone that supported and purchased songs from the AT&T Team USA Soundtrack, AT&T was able to raise $1 million from the soundtrack sales. These proceeds were recently donated to the USOC to support Team USA athletes! Unlike other countries who financially support their athletes, Team USA is supported by corporate sponsorships and private donations. AT&T is a proud sponsor of Team USA and have made this donation to the USOC to support future great athletes like Michael Phelps.

My Morning Jacket’s twenty-five song set at McCaw Hall last month was sometimes epic, but at all times pretentious. Maybe it was the Opera House setting? Maybe it was the overly used synth backup vocals and drum machines? Maybe it was the thumbs up Jim James continued to give the crowd after every other song, Apostle of The Church of The Fonz?

Where was this Legendary My Morning Jacket that I heard and read so much about?

I may have missed the boat on seeing that MMJ. Everything was so overly produced, it was frustrating. The “Evening with My Morning Jacket” I got was the R.E.O. MMJ, The . . .
