As for the lines, I think its probably a symptom of not opening the doors far enough in advance. Chop Suey has the same problem at their bigger shows - they'll open the doors at 9 p.m. and not everyone will be inside by the time the first band is supposed to start. When I worked the Mason Jennings show their tour manager made us start late so everyone that wanted to get in to see the opener could get inside in time (they sucked ass, incidentally). I just don't understand why clubs don't open doors at LEAST an hour before showtime.
