I'm a self-admitted reality tv junkie. Now, I can watch the History and Discovery channels with the best of then, but I love to zone out to horrible television.
Last week was the premiere of Big Brother 5, which is one of the all-time worst reality shows, and it also comes on 2-3 times a week, which keeps my VCR really busy (too poor for Tivo). It's as terrible and terrific as I remember it.

I also saw the premiere of The Assistant, the reality show with Andy Dick. I only think Andy is funny about 50% of the time, so I was leery. However, I think this turned out to be pretty damn funny. It's more of a reality tv spoof than anything else.
Anyone else see it or have an opinion?

Yeah, yeah....I don't view it as reality television, although they throw in the element of them all living in one big house together. I see reality television as horrible, with no real redeeming value, whereas I see Last Comic Standing as something awesome I've been watching it off and on, and I find it fun to watch, although most of the comedians I find to be remarkably mediocre. Anyone agree?

yeah, none of them are clear standouts. but most of them have some skills and seem like they could develop into solid stand-up comedians in the future. Gary and John are the funniest so far.

I watched the final performance episode of Last Comic Standing tonight. I think it's going to be John Heffron. Did you know the new season of Last Comic Standing starts next Tuesday after the Olympics?
I miss America's Next Top Model and Ken Jennings. Ah, September...you don't stand a chance.

i thought all three of the finalist's gave only mediocre performances compared to their previous stuff. all three are really funny, though. i vote for Gary by a hare, although i think Lasagna's right and it will probably be Heffron.

Maybe it's because almost 100% of the population, ahem, watches television?

the population of where?
I am all for the "kill your television" camp. I don't want to kill mine however because it comes in handy for the occasional video game or movie. If those two things didn't exist, I would rather have the extra space in my apartment so I could spread out my music gear a little more.

That's fine. I don't care who watches tv, but we have a forum for the 99.9% of the population (United States citizens, and especially those who read this site) who DO watch TV and like to talk about it.

Personally, I think people with out Cable Television shouldn't be allowed to vote. The Kill Your Television camp are a bunch of wasted breath. Fucking idiots.

 I know that show... He totally lived up to his name. The contestants were losing their patience. I think the girl really deserved to win!
