Out of nowhere, the self-released debut album by NYC indie-rockers Clap Your Hands Say Yeah (
http://clapyourhandssayyeah.com/) has vaulted in to contention for album-of-the-year consideration alongside The Hold Steady, Bloc Party, Kanye West and Richmond Fontaine.
Check out the first single "My Yellow Country Teeth" for a good overview of the band's sound, which can best be explained as the bastard son of David Byrne fronting a band that features Isaac Brock (Modest Mouse) on guitar and Peter Hook (New Order) on bass.
I've listened to this song about 50 times in the past two days, including sneaking into the shitter at work to listen on my headphones, officially making this the current "Song That Shall Be Listened To."
