well, it seems like the article is talking about the "guitar hero" as it came to be known through the 70s and 80s-- something I think is largely stupid and overrated anyway, and if you want to update the pantheon with artists like Thurston Moore or other indie types, you know PJ Harvey would be near the top of anybody's list.

The Rolling Stone cover story by David Wild (May 29,1999) as
well as Jane Magazine (2002) I think discusses that actress-
singer Jennifer Love Hewitt has TWO electric guitars!!
(Which NOBODY has ever seen)
If she rocks with those...LOOK OUT!!

Strange that the "Washington Post" article (reprinted recently in the

L.A. Times) mentions Hilary Duff...she's been seen with a Daisy Rock

electric...but nothing came of that...[/i]

Instead, Van Halen fans seethed that Jack White of the White Stripes landed higher on the list than Eddie.

well, that pisses me off also.

anyhoo, back to women rocking the guitar. There are many amazing women musicians, but they are either pretty obscure, or don't partake in a mainstream genre.

I can name a couple off the top of my head that I think are amazing:

kazu makino (blonde redhead)
Miho Hatori (gorillaz/cibo matto)
Toko Yasuda (enon)
Don't forget about melt banana

anyway.. oh shit... they are all asian. well, I am sure there are plenty of inspiring women musicians out there, but it is true, they are under appreciated.
