Right now I am enjoying Porno by Irvine Welsh.  It basically takes a look at the Trainspotting gang 10 years down the road.  Simon 'Sick Boy" Williamson is the lead character in this book.   Me likey.

AFter I finish this book I intend to re-read The Stranger by Albert Camus.  One of my favorite books.

I liked that book all right, but it just ain't the same as the first time. Still, interesting and fun, though. And how can you go wrong with naked chicks?

You should by any means necessary review that book for the hot new book section here on Nada. I want 500 words on my desk by next week, Snizz!

I have a bad habit of reading old books, so I don't have anything new and exciting that others probably haven't read already. I'm almost finished with Prayer for Owen Meany on recommendation of A-Law and after that, going to read Fear of Flying by Erica Jong...supposedly a hip book in the 70s that everyone BUT me has already read. I couldn't help but want to read it when I noticed Chapter One is titled "En Route to the Congress of Dreams or the Zipless Fuck". Damn!

So, does anyone have something a little more new off the presses you could loan me? I'm supposed to be reviewing something. Please, please please???

I have "Choke" by Chuck Pahlahniuk, which came out a year ago. You should look it up and see if it sounds interesting, and if so I can send it to you. We supposedly have an interview in progress with him, so that would be good.

I'd *love* to read Pahlahniuk's "Choke. I've been meaning to pick up a copy of Fight Club, but would definitely like to read a book I don't already know the story of.  I'm a bit strapped financially right now, so if I could borrow it instead of purchasing it, I'd love you forever. Email me at sonja@nadamucho.com if you want to make arrangements. We'll figure out a barter system...haha.

Right now I'm reading Vera by Stacy Schiff. It's a biography of Vladimir Nabokov's wife. Beautifully and eloquently written, I find myself re-reading sentences for the sheer joy of it. And those two are some damn interesting folks.

What're ya'll readin'?

I am reading Somewhere South of Here by William Kowalski.  It is basically the sequel to his excellent first book Eddie's Bastard.

Sonja you should be reading "Choke" or if you have already, writing a review of it.

I'm reading "Never Mind the Pollacks" by Neal Pollack which comes out October 1 and is pretty funny and cool and all you geeks would love it because it's about rock music and stuff. Review coming the last week of September and also I interviewed him, which should run in a few weeks.

Right now I'm reading A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers.  Recently read Slaughterhouse Five, Cat's Cradle and Breakfast of Champions while on a Kurt Vonnegut kick, and also read the late Carol Shields' The Stone Diaries.

I'm reading the back of my ass. It's a bit heavy-handed and has far too much superflous dialogue for my journalisticly-inclined tastes, but its better than that crap Eggers passed off as readable. Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Poop.

Now I see what Snizz did - he tried to post and got the same Debug message that just caused me to assume my post hadn't been made and resubmit it a couple times. Fisher, you're fired again.

I've had mixed feelings about Egger's overly titled book.  I hated it at first... all the extra reading material smacks of wanky wanking... whether or not he instructs his readers not to waste their time with the prolonged intro or the "how they made it" section if they don't want to.  Cloying and annoying....
But I'm about halfway through and I've warmed up to it a bit... but with baited venom raring to be unleashed at the slightest sign of any more self-satisfied dribble.

I did read Choke and I did start writing a review of it. It was totally awesome by the way. Sorry about the holdup....I think I got distracted by something and forgot I was supposed to be doing it. Typical Nada excuses spew forth. I'll get right on it and mail it back to you asap. By the way, I didn't fold any pages or crack the spine. Angie will be proud of me...ha.
