Just wanted to give a shout out to Wesley Willis, who died at 40 last Thursday. He had leukemia, apparently, in addition to being schizophrenic, 6'5", 350 lbs, and being horribly beaten as a child.
Rock over London, Rock On Chicago.

There is a very cool semi-documentary movie on Wesley Willis called "The Daddy Of Rock and Roll" which I highly recommend to anyone interested in seeing the magic behind the man.
Suck a polar bear's funky ass.
Suck a racehorse's cock with Heinz tomato ketchup.
Suck a donkey's shitty ass.
Suck a male camel's dick with Hoisin sauce.

Its clear that Batman got some "get-back" by cappin' Wesley and making it look like disease and insanity.
All Wesley's shit-talking about "whooping Batman's ass" has evidently finally pushed the maligned caped crusader over the edge. As if being portrayed by Val Kilmer wasn't enough...

I'm sad to read of Mr. Willis's passing. My brother has been a fan of his for years and he took me to one of his shows at the Croc back in '99. I walked up to Wesley shortly after he was done playing and told him to say "ruh" (as he had been instructing the audience to do throughout the evening.) He looked at me with a slightly confused stare and a half-smile and said "Ruh!" I head-butted him gently and he broke into a full smile, head-butting me back with enough force to sober me up a little. It was a fun end to an entertaining performance.
I've read a lot of shit about how his albums and performances were nothing more than exploitations of his disease - making fun of the town retard while he thinks he's creating art. That's crap. I'm glad Wesley Willis had an audience and I'm glad he got to spend so many years playing his songs for us. He was one funny motherfucker.
Rock on, Wesley Willis.

The documentary presents both sides of that coin - the exploitation of the village idiot as well as the hilarious entertainer overcoming his illness to still make art. Its the age-old question, do you hush up around people with disabilities and mental illness and walk on eggshells around them, or do you do show them more empathy by embracing their unique brand of madness or being able to relate through laughter?
You embrace the madness. God Bless you Willis Willis. You are my special boy.
