I watched the premiere of The Office last night and wasn't very impressed. Anyone else have any opinions?

I missed it.  Didn't even know it was going to be on Sad  Hopefully it was better than the American attempt at Coupling, lol

I think its pretty funny that instead of figuring out a way to broadcast the brilliant British TV series The Office (featuring most of the folks that do Spaced and Shaun of the Dead, as well as the very funny British comedian Ricky Gervais), that some network exec just decided to copy the entire premise and style and make our own version. They didn't even bother to change the title.

Steven Colbert is great though.

However, I bet it sucks.

Well, this isn't the first time that an American show has been co-opted from across the pond. "Three's Company" and "All in the Family" were both originally based on British shows. And from what I understand, the pilot was the only episode that lifted directly from the original, genius show. Plus Gervais has gone on record supporting the remake.

Oh, yeah, it's not Colbert but Carrell.

All that said, I didn't even see the aforementioned episode, but I am salivating for something Must See to watch on Thursdays. Come on, NBC!

I heard that last night's was better, but I missed it. Stupid chores.

By the way, Ashworth, if you flip your channel to BBC, you can watch original British shows all you want. Including The Office.

Agreed, Snizz. I thought the characters still have a ways to go to get anywhere near the originals, but that episode was funny. I especially like that the creepy guy from 6 ft under is Gareth, or whatever his name is.
