Some of you may recall my "Writers Who Blog" piece from May. Well, low and behold I was at wilwheaton.net yesterday and apparently after some time off due to illness Wil decided to take stock of his life. One thing he was going to revamp - or rather reevaluate - was his blog. Now, I'm not sure if this is a coincidence or not, so I'll leave up to you, a jury of my peers.

Exhibit A: From my piece, dated Tuesday, May 03 @ 12:40:41 CDT

'At its best, it’s a fascinating look behind the scenes of somebody who’s been in Hollywood a long time: “So, my old friend Danica McKellar emailed the other day...” At it’s worst, it’s a high profile version of all that is wrong with all blogs in general, i.e. a week of: “My cat died, I think I need grief counseling.” '

Harsh criticism, yes, but constructive nonetheless. Now, take a look at this:

Exhibit B: From Wil's blog, dated Tuesday, Jun 07 12:21 PM PT

'I hate Reality TV, and I feel like my blog is dangerously close to crossing the line from " this interesting thing happened to me" to "come with me while I take a shit in the woods." I need to tell more stories, and bear less soul. '

Only Wil knows for sure, but I've decided to hang out my shingle and go into the blog consulting business. Any of you Hollywood types looking for a blog evaluation, hit me at info@toddbunker.com. Wil, no charge for your eval, just give my website a shoutout on your blog and we'll call it even.

There was actually a line after the quote above from Wil which addresses another big reason I didn't get into blogging, but didn’t really fit into the theme of the piece I wrote:

'You know what I've learned about The Internets? It's full of freaks, and if a high-profile person bears too much soul, they really come out of the woodwork and latch on. It's a little creepy.'

Now I've got a lower profile than a tricked-out Nissan, but it's still seems weird to me. Then again, Matt Ashworth met his first three wives via the Internet, so you never can tell...

Sincerly,

Mr. Pretentious
