Hey Kids. Its your friendly Nada Overlord here to tell you about a great new Seattle band called Hex County. Met the guys very briefly last night at Nada's Alt-Country showcase and they handed me a great double EP. I'm on my third time through it now. Check out their website at www.hexcounty.com and voice your opinions in this here forum. Never know, the boys may stop by here and say hello themselves.

I can tell you that. Hex and Mayor West have become good drinking buddies. Rumor has it that they might even hook up and play a double bill sometime soon. Could the masterminds at nadamucho be behind such a devious plot? I'll leave that for you to decide.

Whoa. Wow. Thanks Matt, we couldn't be tickled pinker. Thank you also for the amazing rock show last night. The bands were brilliant, but where the hell did everyone go? How can you leave before I Can Lick Any Sonofabitch in the House? Blasphemers!

And Jeff is considerably cheaper than most other bands... No Old Crow needed for this man, he'll play for half a bottle of Cisco and a High Life tall-boy...

Mmmm, High Life. Looking forward to a Mayor West/Hex tag team. If you guys need something to do tonight, we are playing another short set at the Mars Bar by REI. I'll even wear my High Life hat. I think we go on as early as 9. Probably going to break out a fair number of covers, but probably no Kenny Loggins. Love to see some nadamucho folks as well (if you are recovered from Wed). Also, well be at the Oktoberfest in Fremont at 4:30 on Sunday, right after the Clumsy Lovers! Chess www.mayorwest.com

I for one will be delighted to attend the Fremont show...as I've discovered how much I love Mayor West and have been a long time fan of the Clumsy Lovers. Everyone should definitely come out for this show!

There's a song at the end of the second EP that gives me the same feeling as Johnny Thunders' "Sad Vacation." Lofty praise, but these Hex County guys might have something. I'm not sure of all the lyrics, as mine skips due to the paint from the handpainted CDR front (very cool touch btw) having spilled over onto the playing side, but its something about "My Little Rich Girl." And man do I like it.

Sorry, sorry. We'll be more careful with the paint in the future.
About those lyrics, if you're interested : the song is called "Delridge Girl" and refers to the infamous Delridge neighborhood of West Seattle where the Switch House is located, and where we get our practise on.
If you dig on the lyrics up close you can catch references to various areas and landmarks around there, like the steel factory, Alki beach, Luna Park, Andover hill, etc etc yadda yadda.
I have yet to actually serenade a real live Delridge Girl with this song, but my time is gonna come, I know it.

yeah sorry about that... in a rush to get a bunch of em done before tour, after the infamous hard drive crash with all the orininal audio files, we rapidly did whatever it took to reproduce media in a mass (yet still homemade) fashion, overlooking the skip factor... oops. glad ya like it though.

Unless they've changed their mind, you'll be able to catch the Hex County Kids live at Nada's 10/21 showcase at The Rendezvous.

Just to spread the word, we've got kind of an unusual show coming up on Saturday afternoon. We'll be playing on Bainbridge Island at the Grange, a kind of youth center.
We are opening for a "hardcore bluegrass punk" band called the Can Kickers. They are touring all the way from Connecticut and Nate tells me they play on, like, washboards and things, and have scraggly beards.
So if you're looking for something "slightly different" in your music diet this weekend, you could get in touch with us and we'll try to help you get there, maybe by stowing you away in the van under some blankets . .
