No "My Morning Jacket" from Blender? That was one of the best albums of the year. Oh and Ryan Adams number 4? Kid should go back to doing what he does best in my opinion. This new one, well, it ain't it. At least they had the Truckers rated a little higher than Spin. Great album. Adam, at some point I would love to hear your "No Depression" top 40 of all time. My new Ipod has about 16GB of space.

The best album of 2003 is Los Halos' "Leaving VA."

but, my favorite album so far this year is Post to Wire by Richmond Fontaine. Also dig Outkast (did you see that Patterson Hood from the Truckers said that was his favorite album of the year in Spin). The Strokes I don't know. Are you sure they didn't just repackage the last album and give it new names and artwork.

I don't think the new Strokes album is all that similiar to the last one at all.  Just my opinion.  I like it.   I am smart and cool.

Note to Matt:  the term snooze fest makes me picture the Comic Book Guy running a record store.

I would also like to add

PLacebo - Sleeping With Ghosts to my best of list.

Me & Joey saw these guys at Graceland and it was awesome.  One of the better shows I have seen in awhile.  Finished with Where is my Mind for an encore.  Whole crowd was singing.  A fantastic moment.  Josh Homme's side project Eagles of Death Metal opened for them.  That album might be one to listen for in 2004.  That rhymed!  Kick Ass!

Speaking of top albums of the year list....

The Corporate Monster known as Rolling Stone came out with one. It was a year when they had Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson and Brittany Spears on the cover, as well as the fucking Olson twins?! What the hell they have to do with rock and roll is still a mystery to me. Oh and Timberlake was on the cover. At least that kid was smart enough to call it a farce that his video beat out Johnny Cash.

Well, I was flipping through the list and noticed they had the Drive-by Truckers. Good call, great album except they mentioned some guy named Preston (must be Patterson's brother) and they don't even mention Jason Isbell who in my not so humble opinion wrote the best two songs on the album. You guys are doing a great job. I get a weekly reminder when I flip through that crap.

For now I'll just list the best of the best, and will add the rest of the good'uns of 2003 later.

The albums that really struck me this year were:
The Shins - Chutes Too Narrow
Why? - Oaklandazulasylum
Death Cab For Cutie - Transnationalism
Prefuse 73 -  Extinguished
The Postal Service - Give Up
The Floor - Doll [EP]

Where is all the good hard rock this year?  I don't know.  Maybe someone here can help me out.  So far no McLuskys (the best rock album of 2002)
