Who else has seen it? Comments, questions?

I've got a question, having not read the books. Why did Frodo do what he did at the very end of the movie? I don't get it

This one was really good... does everything a blockbuster should do... great entertainment... still can't figure out  why anyone would watch any of these movies over and over again though...

Rev... what are you alluding to?  Why he attacks Gollum?  Why he can't toss the ring?  Why he takes off on the boat and makes Sam cry (does Sam cry in every scene he is in?)

I'm talking about Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat ride. I don't get it.

I thought it was fairly obvious, Rev! When Sam married the saucy bar wench, Frodo realized that he had misread Sam's "subtle hints" and adoring glances throughout the trilogy (I sure did!) and he decided to go where the REAL action was waiting - a magical land where the guys look like Orlando Bloom and the chicks look like Liv Tyler and nobody ever gets old. The fact that swishy old Queen Gandalf was heading west pointed to the certainty of a healthy gay community, so hi ho and fuck the Shire, off he went!

On the geek tip, Frodo decided to head out with Bilbo and company because a) his wounds from the chief Nazgul's enchanted blade (in the first film) and Shelob's sting (in the third) never truly healed and he lived in a shitload of pain and b) as Ringbearers, only he, Bilbo and Sam were permitted the honor of accompanying the Elves to the Undying Lands. After Sam's wife dies, he ends up heading west as well, if I remember the books correctly. Nerd alert!

Real good then. I wonder if the gay bar in the West is called The Nazgul's Shaft or something like that. That would be totally.

I thought the movie kicked ass.  The army Aragorn "recruits" seemed kinda weird even for that imaginary world.  But it was OK I guess.

Gollum/Smeagle is such a good character.  Give him the Oscar!

That army he "recruited" was the worst part of the movie, I thought...but with that tiny exception, I loved it.
