Sasquatch 2010 Preview
Passion Pit (Sasquatch stage, 4:10PM) is a personal favorite, though it's during Telekinesis (Yeti stage, 4:05PM). I'm hoping Passion Pit's upbeat, driven songs - an interesting balance of indie, electronic, and some unknown exotic spice from a far-off galaxy - lives up to their odd yet compelling videos.
Hudson Mohawke (Rumpus room, 7:30PM) is an up-and-coming electronic music producer and DJ from Glasgow, Scotland. All of his songs have been weird, tinny, layered, and fractured with complex beats; this must be witnessed in person. While he's a talented computer producer, I wonder how that will translate to an audience. I expect the usual blend of electronic and hip-hop, with a few surprises. While I was all set to see MGMT (Sasquatch stage, 8:05PM), even a Neko Case-free New Pornographers show (Bigfoot stage, 9:20PM) might be more engaging than MGMT's new songs from Congratulations. I'd like to give Neon Indian a chance (Rumpus room, 8:40PM), with his laid-back lo-fi music that makes you feel like the star of an eighties video game. I'm also a fan of Ween (Sasquatch stage, 9:30PM), though more for nostalgia's sake. Boyz Noize (Rumpus room, 10:00PM) will end the evening, hopefully with that driving bass reminiscent of The Bloody Beetroots. With enough booze, energy, and people, Boyz Noize should close down the night with a writhing, fist-pumping, electronic dance party. I'm hoping for the best. More Sasquatch:
