Preview: Jamila Woods @ The Crocodile Cafe
June 26, 2019 in Seattle
By Maurice Harnsberry

Critically-lauded soul singer, poet, activist and arts educator Jamila Woods will perform at The Crocodile in Seattle on the evening of June 26. The Chicago native is a phenomenal singer who’s music is full of soul… the kind that’’s truly powerful and moving. One might say she’s the epitome of “Black Girl Magic”.

Woods is touring in support of her excellent and just-released album LEGACY! LEGACY! (via Jagjagwuar/Closed Sessions). Each track on the record is titled for a poet, artist, or musician and draws inspiration from a specific instance or piece of work in their career. Production comes from Woods’ frequent collaborator Oddcouple along with Peter CottonTale (of Chance The Rapper fame) and up-and-coming Chicago producer Slot-A, with guest appearances from Saba, Nico Segal, theMIND, Jasminfire, and Nitty Scott.

You can check out LP LEGACY, LEGACY below and purchase tickets for the Crocodile show here.
