Saturday, June 26 @ The Stables Courtyard
5907 Airport Way

As if the Georgetown Music Fest weren’t bitchin’ enough already this year, it has recently come to our attention that the event features a screening of the 1991 cult classic Shakes the Clown with an introduction by director Bobcat Goldthwait.

The tale of a depressed, alcoholic birthday clown that also stars Tom Kenny (the voice of Spongebob Squarepants) and features bit parts by Adam Sandler and Kathy Griffin, this dark comedy is an absolute gem that’s not to be missed. Seeing it outside at the city’s hippest summer festival should be tops on your list this weekend.

Here are a few of our favorite quotes to whet your whistle:

Dad at party as Shakes arrives: “Are you the clown?”
Shakes: “No, I’m Mary fuckin’ Poppins.”

Owen Cheese: “You clowns are on dope!”
Binky the Clown (Sandler): “You didn’t see nothing old man. We’re just five happy party clowns, sitting down to a plate of beef. White- powdery- beef.”

Shakes (as he and his clown pals set out to beat up some mimes): “You silent motherfuckers!”

Dink (Kenny): “I’ve been busy”
Stenchy: Busy?
Dink: “Yeah, I’ve been juggling n shit.”
