Tyson Lynn – When you think of Washington D.C., you’re thinking of the seat of our nation – you’ve got Congress, you’ve got the White House, you’ve got the President. If you move past that, you’ve got Marion Barry and one of the highest crime rates in the nation. Not necessarily pleasant thoughts.
Chris K – Since the debacle of the last Presidential election, we’ve been wringing our hands here in the blue states, wondering how to communicate with our smug brethren in Bush country. Kansas may as well be the dark side of the moon; we can’t follow their Republican logic, and they see us as effete bleeding hearts who swill espresso and probably speak French.
Julie Borovik – I’ll admit it up front and right away, I’m an Ed Harcourt Rookie. But after hearing a couple cuts off his latest release Strangers on KEXP, his music had piqued my interest enough to want to check him out live.
Aaron Burkhalter – Fans of the west coast hip hop outfit Quannum have little to complain about. Although the label’s top performers, including Tuesday’s Chop Suey headliners Gift of Gab and Lateef the Truthspeaker, take a while to crank out a new LP, they throw an endless stream of appetizers and live sets to the hungry fans awaiting the main entrée.
Lisa M. Smith – Austin-based electric bluegrass-gospel-rockabilly quintet The Weary Boys have played the Tractor so many times in the last three years that they can already call themselves seasoned veterans of the venue.
