Four on the Floor Continues August 17 @ High Dive

Posted by August 15th, 2011 No Comments »

Hey Kids.

On Wednesday, August 17 our monthly “Four on the Floor” series continues at the High Dive.

These shows put four emerging local bands on the floor of the intimate High Dive venue in Fremont. The performers stand out among the good people of Seattle, without a separation between artist and fan. Imagine it’s like a house party, only with air conditioning and better drinks.

When we launched the series a year ago, local rock scribe Jonathan Zwickel wrote about it for the Seattle Times.

Since then, we’ve had a ton of great sets from amazing local bands like See Me River, Eastern Grip, Summer Babes, Jupe Jupe, and Watch it Sparkle.

This week’s show features The Gargle Blasters, Colour Project, Scarlet Season and Whitney Monge.

It’s likely you haven’t heard any of these bands before, but that’s kind of the point. Few were familiar with Viper Creek Club or Beat Connection when they played late last year, but both have become hot tickets on the local scene and were invited to showcase at this year’s South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas. (Beat Connection also played Sasquatch and the Capitol Hill Block Party.)

Join us Wednesday and you might just be seeing next year’s biggest success story.

This gorgeous tune, from Scarlet Season’s debut Taxidermy, will likely be in her set on Wednesday night:

And here’s Whitney Monge busking at Pike’s Place Market:

Tickets are $6 at the door. The show starts at 8:30 p.m. sharp.
