Premiere: Wes Sp8’s “Southern Bastard”

Posted by May 5th, 2016 No Comments »

Seattle musician Wes Sp8 has performed in many different incarnations over the past few years, including acoustically at #TBLFAS and solo with a guitar, synthesizer and a looper at Substation. We watched him closely in 2015 and today are proud to exclusively debut a new song and video by Speight and his current band, the Apollo Proxy, “Southern Bastard.”

“‘Southern Bastard’ was previously released on my album Hackneyed, but the guys in the Apollo Proxy, in particular drummer Glendon Kisner, wanted to record a live version of it and I couldn’t disagree,” Sp8 says. It’s about the numerous times southern bro’s picked fights with me in Nashville bars. It’s fueled by the conjured aggression from those occurrences.”

The video was recorded live at Robert Lang Studios, where Sp8 and the band recorded their new EP, You May Proceed, and produced by Echo Prospect Productions.

Wes Sp8 & The Apollo Proxy celebrate the release of their new EP on Friday, May 6 at the High Dive with with Seacastle and Mts. & Tunnels
