The Touchy Feelies – Out of Time EP
By Leah Brzezinsk
It’s the feel good, melodic pop-punk sleeper hit of the year! Equal parts fun, cute and badass make blasting this Los Angeles-based quartet’s four song EP like biting into a perfectly sweet slice of watermelon.
Throaty female vocals, catchy choruses, simple major chords, pleasing harmonies, driving drum beats and indulgent guitar solos—Out of Time is chock full of stuff I love, and proof that bands don’t always have to be pretentious or complex to make entertaining music.
I want “Happy Tuesday” to be my alarm ringtone, optimistic off the bat with its message of “today is gonna be the best day of my life.” “Atomic,” a nearly perfect breakup song, is followed by party track “Night Driving,” and rounded out by “Beautiful.” It’s fifteen minutes of California ear sunshine.
I was unashamed to be seen grinning, head bobbing, and singing along to this EP in traffic with the windows down all summer long. – (8/10)
