Daughters of the Dead Sea: Living, Sleeping & Breathing Music in Seattle
NadaMucho.com Interview – Daughters of the Dead Sea
Q&A with Iris, Jen, and Mia
NadaMucho.com: What is Daughters of the Dead Sea and why should anyone care?
Daughters of the Dead Sea: We are three Seattle chicks who held the #1 spot at Easy Street Records for three striaght weeks last October. We are three ladies who snagged the #2 slot on Marco Collins’ Top 20 Seattle countdown. We are the band voted #1 local record of 2012 by Tim Basaraba on NadaMucho.com and we were deemed a “must-see” by the Stranger, Seattle Weekly and Rundown. That’s why you should care.
NM: You’re one of the Seattle bands whose most recently popped on to our radar. Give us a bit of the back story that brought you to this point.
DOTDS: Our lives, our jobs (our bass player manages Easy Street Cafe!) and our lives revolve around music. We live, sleep and breathe music. We’d eat it if we could. We also tend to overbook ourselves.
NM: What other local bands are you excited about right now?
DOTDS: So many…Hobosexual, TacoCat, MUDHONEY, Black Breath, Whiskey Radio, The Bend, Mannequin BBQ, Dead Sonics, Stevedore, Cat Power, The Heels, The Springboards, The Valley, The Maldives, Hounds of the Wild Hunt. Two members of our band are ridiculously huge Pearl Jam fans. We’ve been to over 100 shows. We just won tickets to see Pearl Jam at Wrigley Field this summer actually. We are still hyperventilating about that.
NM: What can people expect from your show February 16 at Barboza?
DOTDS: Expect to hear a story in every song. Expect to want more. Expect to buy whiskey. Lots of it.
Daughters of the Dead Sea play TBASA & NadaMucho.com’s monthly showcase at Barboza on February 16 with Suction and Badwater Fire Company.
