From the Editor: That New Arcade Fire Song Kinda Sounds Like “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me”

Last year those pretentious douche bags Arcade Fire put out another great album. Their best, actually. Reflektor is an immaculately constructed masterpiece that adds Talking Heads style percussion to the band’s uncanny knack to create tension within it’s songs.

I keep wanting them to fail, for a shitty album to wash that cocky, art school snobbery right off their faces. Until that day, I’m enjoying the hell out of Reflektor and taking minor comfort in the similarities between guitar parts in “Joan of Arc” and Billy Joel’s “Still Rock and Roll to Me,” largely because Joel’s relate-able American pop rock seems like the antithesis of Arcade Fire’s Indie rock high art.
