Jacob Banks, a rising singer and songwriter from Birmingham, England with a deep baritone, will bless Seattle with his mesmerizing voice on Wednesday, Jan. 16 at the Showbox at the Market.

Touring on his most recent album, Village, the audience will likely be treated to many songs from this great piece of work. Expect to hear tracks like “Chainsmokers,” “Slow Up,” “Keeps Me Going” and much much more.

I had the opportunity to see Banks at last year’s Sasquatch Music Festival (RIP) and WOW: his voice blew me away. He was backed by a live band made up of piano, drums, bass, guitar, and, though deep with bass tones, his voice also had touches of sweet melody as it delivered lyrical punches. I’ve never seen so many Sasquatch attendees so focused.

Later, after his set, I saw Banks walking through the Sasquatch crowd, heading to an interview, and he stopped to speak with me and some of the other photographers. He was authentic and real, chatting with us about his origins and graciously accepting our congratulations on his great set.

This authenticity wasn’t surprising given the connection he made with the audience through his raw, personal performance. I’m super excited to photograph him as he performs in Seattle proper at a more intimate venue.

Tickets on sale now.
