Alabama born/Chicago bred MC Mick Jenkins will perform in Seattle on Jan. 6, the second stop on his 29-city “Pieces of a Man tour.”

Pieces of a Man, the album (please tell me you caught that memo), is a musical vision that sees Mick returning to assert himself as a lyrically-dominant rapper operating in a lane of his own. Finding Mick at a wiser period in his life, the 17-song album (his second proper, which compliment’s seven mix tapes and a host of singles) showcases the MC and producer’s penchant for dynamic storytelling with an introspective and investigative look at the state of the world through his eyes and informed by his experiences. It’s art with a point of view.

Mick gets help from Wu-royalty Ghostface Killah on “Padded Locks”; British singer and songwriter Corine Bailey Rae on “Consensual”; and Toronto instrumental group BADBADNOTGOOD on “Smoking Song.”

If you’re wise, you’ll take this chance to see Jenkins live when he plays Neumos with Arkansas performer Kari Faux. Tickets on sale now.
