Tobe Nwigwe @ Nectar
March 10, 2019 in Seattle
By Maurice Harnsberry
I was introduced to Tobe Nwigwe by watching his freestyle on Sway in the Morning (a weekday morning show on Eminem’s Shade 45 channel on SiriusXM) and was absolutely blown away by the Houston performer’s message and style.
You might ask yourself, “who the hell is this guy? I’ve never even heard his name before.” But trust me: dude is NEXT. He’s straight taken the Internet by storm and I couldn’t be happier.
Stylistically, Nwigwe’s music is very smooth and very melodic. He doesn’t rap with aggression, but with passion. You can tell that he is made for this.
Another thing that’s cool about Nwigwe? His wife is a big part of his success and he makes sure everyone knows it. This makes me smile; his career is a team effort.
Hopefully you already got a ticket for the sold-out March 10 show at Nectar in Fremont, Nwigwe’s first time playing Seattle, but if not, don’t fret: this is likely the first of many national tours as more and more people catch on to his music.
#WTS for a photo gallery later in March. Until then, check out the Sway segment that won me over as well as my favorite Tobe record on Spotify.
