Thursday, August 9
Too Short @Neumos
Erik Blood & Hotels @ The Crocodile

Seattle must have enjoyed that Too Short show we recommended back in June, because the slutty Bay Area rapper is back in town tonight at Neumos.

Meanwhile, down in Belltown at the Crocodile, the more subtle stylings of local producer and musician Erik Blood and the heavily-Joy Division influenced Hotels will be on display.

Both shows are excellent options.

Friday, August 10
Dead Can Dance @ Marymoor Park
Brad & Young Evils @ The Sunset
Ghost Power & Crawler @ The Benbow Room

Friday’s live music choices run the gamut from rueunited icons of the independent music scene of the 80s and 90s (Dead Can Dance at Marymoor Park) to grunge-era hidden gems (Brad) to local acts on the verge of national success (Young Evils) to a sneak peek at good local bands who aren’t on your radar yet to (Ghost Power and Crawler).

Saturday, August 11
The Purrs & Black Nite Crash @ The Sunset
The Dolly Rottens @ The Mix

Speaking of great local acts who haven’t quite caught on outside of the Northwest, The Purrs and Black Nite Crash play the Sunset Saturday night, and both are excellent bands who borrow from equal parts Brit Pop, Shoegaze and Garage Rock to create something extremely enjoyable.

Over at The Mix, the Georgetown bar named “Best Rock Club” in the recent Seattle Weekly Awards, you can check out the city’s sexiest band The Dolly Rottens.
