For more than a dozen years, a group of talented musicians known as Marmalade has been offering a welcome respite to the city’s overabundance of guitar rock bands and electronic acts, offering instead an ass-shaking mix funk, soul, reggae, hip-hop and jazz each Thursday night in Fremont.

In tribute to the High Dive’s tenth anniversary, which the club is celebrating all month, Jim Toohey went out and took some photos of the collective, which is hosted by multi-talented Seattle institution Kimo Muraki and features members of of Cascadia 10, Thaddilac, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Wheedles Groove, Pigeonhed (Live band), Clinton Ferron, Phat Sidy Smokehouse, Nu Sol Tribe and Adrian Xavier.

I am in LOVE with Marmalade! This band has been holding it down EVERY THURSDAY in Fremont for 13 years. These guys are filled to the brim with LOVE and AMAZING talent! If you have not gone to see them any time soon….CHECK THEM OUT AT THE HIGH DIVE. In Seattle we don’t call it Thursday…we call it MARMALADE

Consistently my favorite night of the week. Each week is different but always excellent. A rotating band of merry men who are also some of the top players in the groove, Jazz and funk scenes coming together to have goodtime party with the audience and each other. As was already said LOVE permeates the dance floor and the stage! Plus one just never knows who might show up to Grace the stage (pun intended).

    1. Is that true, love?
