I got a chance to check out one of two shows Southern California band the Growlers played at Seattle’s Neptune Theatre this month and take some pictures.

The group, which is signed to Julian Casablancas’ Cult Records, share’s many similarities with the label owner’s former band the Strokes, adopting a seemingly nonchalant artifice with which to deliver artful, hook-laden modern rock. On the band’s more recent records, their chiming guitars have been more frequently complemented or replaced by keyboardist Kyle Straka’s vintage-organ styled synth.

On Sept. 7, the first of two back-to-back shows at the Neptune in Seattle’s University District, the Growlers came out with the hits, running through crowd favorites like “City Club,” “Dope on a Rope” and “One Million Lovers” right from the start.

It was a solid rock show from top to bottom and the sold-out crowd was pumped up throughout. Here are a few shots from the evening.
