Premiere: Passion Party’s New Single, “LucyFur”

Today we premier “LucyFur,” the first song from the forthcoming sophomore album, Bored Games, by satirical Seattle hip-hop group Passion Party.

According to Passion Party Grand Puba Tim Stiles, the song is “a literal depiction of what it’s like to live with Lucy, my nine- year-old orange, female tabby who was born June 6, 2006 (666), hence the nickname.”

Stiles says that the song’s hook describes what it must be like for Lucy once she’s left at home all alone. “Any cat owner can sympathize with the line, ‘Can’t you tell the distinction between the fresh dog stink and the cat smell of extinction? This petrified cat pee has me wishing for a dog, not an adopted kitten.'”

Bored Games sees its official release on September 29, 2015 via Bandcamp. Catch the group live October 8 when they serve as the house band for the Nips-N-Tips sketch comedy collective at Seattle’s Rendezvous JewelBox Theater.
