TBLFAS #67: Mike Spine, Robert Roth, Ian Forrester & Joel Berstrom

Posted by July 1st, 2015 No Comments »

Tonight, the 67th installment of Tim Basaraba’s recurring acoustic showcase, TBASA’s Lo-Fi All-Stars, goes down at the new Substation venue in Ballard. Here’s Tim on this month’s performers.

Ian Forrester

Yep. I suckered Dirty Dirty’s front man into playing another one of my acoustic showcases. You can all thank me tonight.

Joel Berstrom

Joel fronts an amazing local band called Vibragun, who make shimmering, dreamy pop music. I have yet to hear him as a solo artist, which is perfect. When we started this showcase more than six years ago that was the point: see musicians in a new setting, alone and stripped down to the essentials.

Robert Roth

Robert Roth may be one of the greatest songwriters alive. If you dobut me, listen to his band Truly’s album Fast Stories…From Kid Coma that came out 20 years ago and then tell me if you’re still not convinced. Robert will be playing a solo set of songs mostly from his 2004 solo album Someone Somewhere, but maybe if we all chant “Blue Flame Ford” he will blush and play the third greatest song ever written.

Mike Spine

Seattle underground hero Mike Spine has shifted in and out of the Seattle Scene over the last few years in between stints as a guitar-wielding globebrotter. Wednesday is your chance to tell him you miss him and encourage him to stay in town for awhile.
