TBLFAS #70: Jeremy Serwer, Faint Peter, Ian Jones, Rob Femur & Brendan Z Smith

Posted by October 4th, 2015 No Comments »

On October 7, the 70th installment of my recurring acoustic showcase, TBASA’s Lo-Fi All-Stars, goes down at the new Substation venue in Ballard. Here are some thoughts on this month’s performers.

Jeremy Serwer

It is difficult to categorize Jeremy other than to say he is a top notch singer songwriter. His tales are sinister in that they make the listener lean toward the melody and forget that the words being delivered are the true message not the beauty that is the conduit to the message.

Here is a video of Jeremy at the now defunct White Rabbit in 2013:

Faint Peter

I dont know much about Faint Peter but it seems when I am talking to musicians I respect they always tell me to make sure to see this guy perfrom. I am running out of hours in the day so I decided to book him so I could watch his set.

Here is a video of him on a train track, don’t worry the train never comes:

Ian Jones

Ian is one of those guys that every time you see him you wished he played more often and were able to find more of his work online. Well his marketing stategy worked, guess who will be in attendance to see him perform? Me and you should as well.

Cant find a single video on Youtube.

Rob Femur

One of the goals when I started TBLFAS was to see front men perform songs by alone without a band behind them, this will probably happen on Wednesday.

Here is a video of Rob’s band the Femurs performing “Ryan’s Song” to a static, pixelated album cover:

Brendan Z Smith

One of the goals when I started TBLFAS was to see front men perform songs by alone without a band behind them, this will probably happen on Wednesday.

Here is a video of Brenden’s band Clearly Beloved performing “Valhalla” at the Mix in 2013
