TBLFAS #72: Luther Cassidy, Tombstone Jackson, Serena Elisheva, Travys Starr, Kyna Berg, Fire & Sigh
Tonight, the 72nd installment of Tim Basaraba’s recurring acoustic showcase, TBASA’s Lo-Fi All-Stars, goes down at the new Substation venue in Ballard. Here’s Tim on this month’s performers.
8:15-8:45 Luther Cassidy
Luther Cassidy is the brain child behind Rory OK and the Worst Band ever. It will be great to see how his solo set translates from his raucous three piece. Here is a video of Rory and the boys at Joonior Studios in 2012:
8:45-9:15 Tombstone Jackson
As far as I can tell, Tombstone Jackson is a conglomerate of friends who make music. The rotation of members adds a level of mystery to who will be performing when. This video may or may not be one of the members performing on the streets of Tijuana:
9:15-9:45 Serena Elisheva
I met Serena in Portland. She is a rad person and most rad people play good music. Here she is playing the Blue Moon back in March (with cameo by Patrick Galactic):
9:45-10:15 Travys Starr
With a mixture of dark covers and originals this enigmatic performer, Travys Starr, is perfect for an acoustic showcase in a large warehouse room.
10:15-10:45 Kyna Berg
Kyna is an unabashed performer and pianist who’s sound would fit perfectly in a vaudeville show a century ago, which is unique within the underground Seattle music community. And that makes Kyna cool. Come see her coolness tonight.
10:45-11:15 Fire & Sigh
Fire & Sigh is a one man band that will blow your mind. This will be his last Seattle show before relocating to Colorado, so make sure not to miss it. Here is a video of him performing in Colorado earlier this year:
11:15-11:30 TBASA
Performing the same hacky covers and originals, this guy puts himself on the monthly bill every time in an attempt to stay relevant. It isn’t working.
