Lindsey Potter – I’m excited by this year’s lineup and specifically the main stage acts scheduled for opening day, so I’ve got a tight schedule to keep. But there are too many distractions. En route to the first stop on my agenda I change directions because I NEED to get a better look at the inflatable white bunnies guarding the Bumbershoot sign.


Smoke Season @ Barboza: “Fleetwood Mac With Beats”

Los Angeles indie-pop duo Smoke Season will make their fourth appearance in Seattle September 12 at Barboza. The group, who describe their sound as “Fleetwood Mac with beats,” are a rising voice for social change in the music community, having flown to Standing Rock, North Dakota to support DAPL protests, and released music videos focusing on bullying of LGBTQ youth (“Loose”), support for veterans (“When The Smoke Clears”), immigration reform (“Emilia”).


#ICYMI: STRFKR @ The Showbox

Sanae Kato – Earlier this year, Portland indie electronic band STRFKR played an intimate show to a full house at The Showbox in downtown Seattle. Lead singer Joshua Hodges came out dressed in a sparkly blue dress, pink sunglasses and a blonde wig, a nice change from the cape he adorned the last time I saw him perform.
