Bumbershoot 2015: Day 1 Photo Album
Today started with a flood of anti-Bumbershoot sentiment on social media, spurred in part by a damning Seattle Times column asserting that the 34 year-old music and arts festival had been abandoned by the people who made it special and succumbed to “corporatitis.”
Whether you agree with that assertion or not, it was kind of a rough day. Long lines at the gates and press areas made for a slow start for many and weather delays brought the whole thing to a temporary halt in the late afternoon.
Despite all that, thousands of people flocked to the Seattle Center to take in live music, comedy, discussion panels and a host of other forms of artistic expression. Our wayward Photo Editor Jim Toohey navigated the event’s new layout throughout the afternoon and captured some photos of the action.
