Tim Basaraba – I am a sucker for debut feature films, especially when they fall into the low-budget sci-fi genre. The Artifice Girl, directed by Franklin Ritch, fits this description perfectly.
Tim Basaraba – Films about subjects that already live rent free in my brain are sometimes difficult to enjoy. My knowledge of the subject matter seems to get in the way. Instead of appreciating a film as an artistic expression, I often find myself scrutinizing the filmmaker’s choices.

The small studio basically swept the Oscars in 2023, and now I spot kids wearing A24 sweatshirts as they stroll through airports. So, it’s no shocker that Nicolas Cage would take on a role in an A24 film during the third wave of his career renaissance.
Tim Basaraba – Last April, I had the opportunity to watch three new films within a single week. Typically, I watch at least two movies weekly, but it’s uncommon for me to encounter three genuinely good ones in such a short span. This particular week was memorable for that reason.
