Graham Isaac – Seattle’s Kinski are, in many ways, a rock band’s rock band. If that sounds like faint praise, it shouldn’t; over the course of eight full lengths and multiple EPs and splits, they’ve burnt themselves a clearing that’s surrounded by blown out fuzz, soaring psychedelia, crisp atmospherics, and motorik rhythms.
Tim Basaraba – Ten Miles Wide played under their new moniker, laying to rest the name The Mothership after some legal issues. The aggression displayed by all three members (especially the drummer Will Andrews) was visceral with sweat and grimaces.
Frida Ray – Saturday nights on Capitol Hill have changed considerably in recent years at such a dramatic level that it stirs feelings of nostalgia in those of us fortunate enough to remember Seattle’s not so distant past.
Sarah Volpone – As chronicled on the digital pages of this here website, I’ve been a fan of Langhorne Slim for quite some time and even got to interview him. When he comes to town with his band, The Law, I try not to miss a show.
AJ Dent – The final day of the 2015 Capitol Hill Block Party began with the smell impending rain in the air. Usually at concerts you’ll find me coffeed up beyond federal safety regulations, but I wanted to keep my time at CHBP chill this year.
