Peter Cameron – Fuck. Five Easy Pieces is awesome! I don’t even know where to begin. Let’s start with Jack. His character, Robert Eroica Dupea, isn’t heroic. In fact, the character has very little character. But that comes primarily from Nicholson’s charm.
Tim Basaraba – If you have read my film reviews over the years, you’re probably sick of me mentioning the importance of “Optimum Immersion.” I certainly don’t want to spoil anything about director Ira Sachs’ (Frankie, Little Men) excellent 2023 film Passages, so I will keep this succinct and do my best to entice you to see the film without giving too much away.
Tim Basaraba – Fool’s Paradise, the directorial debut from Always Sunny in Philadelphia star and co-creator Charlie Day, was one of my most anticipated films of 2023. Now that I’ve seen this embarrassment of riches, it’s likely to be my greatest disappointment of the year as well.
Tim Basaraba – Greta Gerwig is an impressive artist. Her coming-of-age debut Lady Bird was among my favorite films of 2017 and I gave her adaption of Little Women an A when I reviewed it in 2019. As an actress, she comes across as sincere and likable no matter how strange the character.
Aubrey Oliver – My first trip to the Capitol Hill Block Party was pretty amazing. As me and my friend entered the festival grounds in the heart of Seattle’s Pike/Pine corridor on Sunday afternoon, we got a few drinks at Bobaholic and looked around a bit to take everything in.
