We’re delighted to share with you that beloved local music festival, The Capitol Hill Block Party, will return after a 2-year hiatus this summer. They just announced the lineup. It’s scheduled for July 22-24 in the heart of the Pike/Pine corridor and we hope like hell the pandemic lets us celebrate it safely together.
Tim Basaraba – Now that Disney owns everything, is it fair that DNEG Studio’s first film didn’t get the marketing it deserved? No. It sure isn’t. In monopolized industries there are always winners and losers, and ol’ Walt’s namesake sure likes to stack up them W’s.
Tim Basaraba – With twenty-seven feature films to his credit, Ridley Scott has earned the title of “Sir.” I would love to go through his filmography and call out a few “must-sees,” but I don’t to distract from what I’m about to convey: The Last Duel may be the best Sir Ridley Scott film ever and you should drop whatever you’re doing right now and watch it.
Tim Basaraba – Best to get two things out of the way before I weigh in on Denis Villeneuve’s Dune. First, I am a fan of David Lynch’s Dune (1984). And not in an ironic, “so-bad-it’s-good” kind of way. Second, I have not and will not read the Frank Herbert novel. That means I will only be comparing this film to the bizarre adaptation from the 80’s and not to the epic novel that spanned many sequels.
Tim Basaraba – Respect to first time feature film director Liesl Tommy! A former stage director with only eight episodes of seven different television series under her belt, she’s a biopic masterpiece for the ages with Respect, a 2021 film about the life and career of singer Aretha Franklin.
