Tim Basaraba – Ten Miles Wide played under their new moniker, laying to rest the name The Mothership after some legal issues. The aggression displayed by all three members (especially the drummer Will Andrews) was visceral with sweat and grimaces.
Hey Kids! Tonight, the 68th installment of Tim Basaraba’s recurring acoustic showcase, TBASA’s Lo-Fi All-Stars, goes down at the new Substation venue in Ballard. Here’s Tim on this month’s performers.
Tim Basaraba – Grizzled rocker J Mascis seemed more excited to hang out with alumni from Seattle bands Mudhoney and Pearl Jam in the green room than play for the sold-out Tractor Tavern crowd on November 19, but once on stage he got a twinkle in his eyes and delivered a great set.
Tim Basaraba – With each new Raveonettes album, fans are treated to an ever-evolving version of this duo’s fuzzed out, reverb-soaked sex-rock and their 2014 release Pe’ahi continues with that formula. The question is whether the band’s seventh album has what it takes to hook new listeners, entice them to go back through their catalogue and become life-long fans like me.
On Saturday I arrived early and walked around the neighborhood before heading to the Capitol Hill Block Party main stage at 2 p.m. for Cymbals. I don’t know anything about this band, but the sound emanating from the main stage and echoing down the street was pleasant enough.
