Andy Bookwalter – Jess and Todd were right, as usual. For years, my sister and brother-in-law (fellow NadaMucho.com contributor Todd Terry) have been praising this festival/anti-festival located in the wildlands of Carnation, Washington, despite the fact that we’re all too old and crotchety for such shenanigans.
Andy Bookwalter – The last time I was in the new location for legendary Seattle venue the Crocodile, it was still El Gaucho, and our car got stolen. Before El Gaucho, it was the Sailor’s Union Hall of the Pacific and there was a genuine Merchant Marine bar downstairs called My Suzie’s (later known as Trade Winds).
Andy Bookwalter – Remember that time when the world ended? When huge music festivals went from “hedonistic happy fun time” to “disgusting disease vectors” overnight? That was awesome, unless you like getting into festivals for free, pitching snark and cracking wise about the old days.
Andy Bookwalter – The Capitol Hill Block Party bookers have an amazing talent for programming three days of music performed by musicians with names I dimly recognize, if I’m lucky. I don’t think they do this on purpose to screw with Ole’ Andy, though, as that would make no sense.
Andy Bookwalter – Continuing in the tradition of sending a confused old man across a treacherous mountain pass in search of music he doesn’t understand by bands he’s never heard of, this old man is going to Timbrrr!, the yearly festival held annually in picturesque Leavenworth, Wash. that’s so good it has an exclamation point right in its name!
