Treefort Fest 2018 Recap: A Pedestrian’s View

by on May 6th, 2018 | No Comments »

Gary Horn – Treefort Music Fest occurs each Spring in downtown Boise, Idaho. Musicians, actors, comedians, yoga instructors, film directors and more gather to inform and entertain within its 10 “forts,” most of them all-ages. Reviewing this year’s lineup of 463 bands (not a misprint, I checked), it was a challenge to narrow the list down to just 25 or so bands that time would allow me to see.

Treefort Fest Interview: Teenage Candy

Gary Horn – Teenage Candy is an alternative rock band from Boise that makes music for every emotional, teen-punk, Twitter-pated loser out there. Their songs are filled with angst, classic rock power chords, and shoegaze-like vocals, which somehow turns out to sound like a cross between Angel Olsen and Beach House…. which puts them square in the middle of NadaMucho.com’s wheelhouse.

Gary Horn – Deathlist is a goth-punk trio from Portland, Oregon featuring Jenny Logan from Summer Cannibals, Maggie Morris of Genders and Sunbathe, and Pieter Hilton from Typhoon. Their music is a mix of “frenzied punk rock [songs] that riff wildly until they’re caught in a buzzy entanglement of guitar-driven chaos.” Their debut s/t album was released on XRAY Records in 2017, and their second full-length will be out in March 2018.

Treefort Music Fest: Kind of a Big Deal

by on March 19th, 2018 | No Comments »

Gary Horn – In case you hadn’t heard, the Treefort Music Fest is kind of a big deal. Over 450 musicians/bands/DJs/acts will perform over a 5-day span in downtown Boise. In it’s SEVENTH year, Idaho’s capital city will be teeming because, unlike most music festivals, this one includes other “forts” that cater to comedy, film, kids, yoga and others.
