Ian Bremner – The crowd seems fairly tame as I wait for Mac DeMarco to take the stage for the first of shows at Seattle’s Moore Theatre. Once the lights dim, however, young fans – who have been patiently waiting in their seats – immediately flood the aisles to get as close as they can to one of their heroes.
Gary Horn – If you’re going to Bumbershoot – Seattle’s four decade old music and arts festival – for just a single day, you really should target Saturday. It usually boasts the most popular artists and the highest attendance (assuming that people-watching is your thing). This year was no exception.
Lindsey Potter – I’m excited by this year’s lineup and specifically the main stage acts scheduled for opening day, so I’ve got a tight schedule to keep. But there are too many distractions. En route to the first stop on my agenda I change directions because I NEED to get a better look at the inflatable white bunnies guarding the Bumbershoot sign.
Travis Trautt – When 4AD Records darlings Lemon Twigs made their Seattle debut at Barboza in January, it was an intimate affair. The crowd assembled for the Tuesday night show was small but committed, clearly fans of the Long Island teen brothers’ baroque-pop.
Travis Trautt – This metal kid had an overwhelming and amazing experience shooting Metallica last Wednesday in Seattle. To start, being escorted into the stadium and seeing the crowd was overwhelming. This was the first stadium show I have covered. When the band started, the place erupted.
