Petit Maman: Regarde Le Deux Fois

by on December 6th, 2022 | No Comments »

Tim Basaraba – Simple, quaint, effervescent and beautiful. No, I am not describing myself, I am describing Petite Maman. No need for blustery preamble, no need for detailed explanations about the fantastical things that are happening, and most importantly: no teary-eyed monologues hoping to strike Oscar gold.

The Cursed: The Year’s Best Horror Film?

by on November 29th, 2022 | 1 Comment »

Tim Basaraba – One of my guilty pleasures is watching horror films that come out in January, February or March. Studios front load each year with films that have little to no hope of making money. Tim Basaraba – I am ignorant about most foreign cinema. Sure, I have my favorite international directors: Guillermo del Toro, Alejandro Amenábar, Bong Joon Ho, Pedro Almodóvar, Yorgos Lanthimos, Gaspar Noé and of course Lars von Trier are a few of my favorites who’ve had success here in the US. But cinema from India? It’s new to me.
