Andy Bookwalter – Great Oi! songs are not complicated. Mid-tempo punk rock, heavy drums, and choruses you can sing back at the band while covered in beer and other people’s sweat or shout at the start of soccer games, space to yell “Oi! Oi! Oi!” in between verses, and lyrics about working, drinking, class struggle, more drinking, and punching.
Andy Bookwalter – In which Andy finally runs out of rambling anecdotes and self -absorbed diatribes and realizes that he should have done some more research on this band. I love Diarrhea Planet. Even if I didn’t, I’d pretend like I did so i could drop the words “Diarrhea Planet” into casual conversation.
Andy Bookwalter – Sasquatch 2017. Reduced expectations. 21 Pilots. Is Sasquatch winding down or just becoming Andy sized?
Andy Bookwalter – Oh Sasquatch, you’re really pushing your luck. 21 Pilots? 21 Pilots? Saturday’s headliner at the yearly gathering of forward-thinking musicians appears to be a band that 90 percent of their fans will need a ride from their Moms to see, and the Gorge is a hell of a drive from the Power 93.3 (Seattle’s New #1 For Hit Music!) listening area, but who knows? Maybe if I just give them a chance they’ll turn out to be geniuses?
Andy Bookwalter – Well, Sunday at Sasquatch was weird. If you don’t love TacocaT and everything about them you are a sad wretch and I pity you. That said, they don’t control the winds. So, when their set on the main stage was delayed due to “shit blowin’ all over the place,” I was forced to broaden my horizons and hear something new.
