Stephanie Oster – Swedish duo The Radio Dept. recently stopped by Seattle club Neumos, touring on their politically-charged fourth album, Running Out Of Love. The group put on a subtle, lovely performance that included new single “Swedish Guns,” a haunting takedown of the Swedish arms industry.
Travis Trautt – What a crazy all-ages show last month when Austin band the Black Lips played Seattle venue Chop Suey. (I think I might have even seen one of the guitar players do a quick key bump of coke. Epic!) The band’s manic on-stage energy was matched by a wild young crowd and a ton of old school stage diving, perfect for their garage punk sound.
Travis Trautt – The evening started off with Baltimore, Mary. musician Daniel Higgs, who’s post-hardcore band Lungfish recorded several albums for seminal D.C. label Dischord Records in the 1990s and 2000s. His solo performance set the tone for the evening, which was INTENSITY.
Travis Trautt – Walking up to the High On Fire show January 21 at El Corazon, I noticed a ton of gutter punk girls with huge Mohawks and tons of spikes. Clearly this was going to be a rough, tough show.
