Andy Bookwalter – Why is Diarrhea Planet so damn good? Why does such a great band have such a terrifically terrible name? Did two pretty good bands merge into one Nashville superband? And what’s with all those guitars? These are questions I asked myself the last time I saw Diarrhea Planet.
Travis Trautt – I’d heard a couple of songs from heralded UK post-punk band Shame and was intrigued, so when I heard they were playing Barboza with support from Seattle’s great Monsterwatch (#41for2017). I had to get myself out on a Tuesday night.
Todd Terry – This was the first time I had seen a show at Neumos since their 2017 remodel. From my perspective near the stage house left, new Neumos looked pretty similar to old Neumos, but is still very different than Moe’s Mo’Roc’N Café.
Church was definitely in session on a cold Sunday evening in Ballard last month. The temperature outside was near freezing, but inside Slim Cessna’s Auto Club were bringing their Gothic Americana fire and brimstone to the clubhouse-like environment of the Sunset Tavern.
